4 Tips to Prepare Your Home for Summer

Summer is just around the corner. Everyone’s already starting to prepare for it — working out to get their beach bodies, shopping for summer outfits, planning their vacations and activities, etc. You might be ready for summer and are pretty excited to go and have some fun!

But you might be forgetting an integral part of your summer planning — preparing your home. Your house is going to be surviving the summer season with you too, so you have to make sure everything is all set by the time the season arrives. No one wants to break the fun just because something needs to be repaired in the house, right?

To prevent any hassle or severe damage to your home during the intensely hot summer season, you have to start preparing as early as now. Here are some tips to get your home ready for summer.

Check your cooling systems

We all know how hot it can get in Lehi during summer. And the last thing we want during intense heat is to have a broken cooling system! Before summer, it’s important to make sure that all AC units and cooling systems are in optimal condition.

Wash the filters every month, clean the coils, and check the refrigerant levels. These should help your air conditioning unit produce a cooler and better quality of air. It would be advisable to thoroughly inspect your cooling systems and conduct the necessary repairs to help them work more efficiently.

Flip and vacuum the mattress

Cleaning the mattress is not usually part of weekly general cleaning efforts. But this is something that should be done at least once every season. Summer allergies are a common occurrence. Although the heat is the number one culprit, dirt and dust from your mattress can also be held accountable.

Before summer comes, flip your mattress and diligently vacuum all vital areas. This will help get rid of any particles that can worsen summer allergies. It’s also a good idea to invest in a hypoallergenic protection pad for your bed.

Conduct a pest control session

It’s not only you and your family who’s going to be needing shelter during the summer season. Hot summer days can cause insects and bugs to invade and find shelter in your home. Your first line of defense is through sealing all openings around your house to prevent pests from coming in. And then call an exterminator to get rid of pesky insects who have already invaded your house.

Ready your summer equipment

Chances are, your shed, pantry, and other storage units around your house still have your winter equipment on deck. It’s about time to prepare for the new season. Take out all your winter equipment and put them on storage. After all, it’s going to be a while before you need to use them again.

In your shed, put all your summer gear like gardening equipment, lawnmower, sports gear, etc. in place in time for the season. In your home, make sure you’re revamping the contents of your pantry with summer goods and treats.

The summer season is a favorite for most people. Understandably, everyone’s quite excited to enjoy the summer heat. But before anything else, we have to make sure that our homes are also ready to face the season. Take these tips and prepare your homes as early as now so that you can enjoy and spend your vacation hassle-free.
